Medieval Towns
I have a fondness for medieval towns. I have visited some, and wish to go back and see more. They feel so organic... sprouting from the hills, with meandering streets and sun filled plazas. Here is the first of the series:

Back on track
It has been a while since my last post... I haven't been idle, simply dissatisfied with the quality of the photos I take of my work. After much investigating, trial and error I decided that (to quote one of my teachers) "a little bit of something is better than a whole lot of nothing" and to post the photos I have, even though they are not great. Keep in mind, then, that the originals are much better than the photos.
So, here we go...

Finding my voice
"Tropical night".
This pastel painting is a recreation of one of my batik tapestries of long ago. After a workshop with Erica Neumann on finding your style, I decided to re-explore my (almost) abstract side. I'm enjoying the process.
Painted on Wallis sanded paper, 30 x 40 cm.

Blue Door and Olive Tree
The inspiration for this painting came from a new store in town called Blue Door Oil and Vinegar. I made this one up, no photo reference...
Painted on Pastelmat, 33 x 45 cm.
Cafes and Street Scenes Workshop
I did this painting last weekend during a workshop with Dianna Ponting in her studio in Abbotsford (BC).
All 5 students worked on the same picture, and the results were amazing! And very different from one another...
I really enjoyed the workshop - Dianna is a great teacher and a talented artist.
Painted on Pastelmat, 32 x 42 cm. Private collection.
